"I am always inspired or uplifted or touched in some way. Today alone, I met an 88-year old former mountaineer who was celebrating her husband's 90th birthday. She has climbed every mountain in Washington and Oregon. Then there was an 84-year old chemist (still working) who educated me on why the world runs on corn. And I witnessed the incredible love and patience of the husband caring for his wife who is suffering from dementia. That was just today. There are so many stories." -- Lynn. This is the experience of a current Senior Health Clinic volunteer who continues to find this assignment very rewarding.
If this is the kind of volunteer experience you seek, then Peter Kirk Community/Senior Center can use your volunteer assistance as a Senior Health Clinic Assistant, with their foot care program EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY (afternoon shift currently available...see details below).
As volunteer Lynn says, "The majority of the role is chatting with the clients/patients as they are waiting or having their feet worked on." You assist the program contract Nurse, Judy, by greeting clients, helping them with paperwork, making appointment reminder calls, general filing & office and prepping and occasionally filling/emptying foot care water bins. This program is designed to help older adults and those with disability maintain healthy feet!
Volunteer Shifts Available:
