Help a person who is legally blind to manage their paper, mail and official documents. You will be a help and you can make a new friend too!
A Saturday of service is needed for a lady who is blind and wants to attend meetings of the National Federation of the Blind. She would like a driver from New Haven to East Hartford. The meeting are once per month from 10 a.m., to noon plus the travel time. If you are interested in helping a neighbor and want to start small with a defined task, this is a great opportunity.
Requirements to be a great volunteer include:
a desire to help others;
a pleasant demeanor;
a good reading/speaking voice;
average reading skills;
organizational or planning abilities;
a good driving record;
a clear criminal history;
access to a car with proof of insurance;
a minimum of $50/100k liability and $5,000 of property damage coverage.
