Integrated Rural Community Center for Agriculture is looking for entry level website enthusiasts with some experience in creating and maintaining fully functional websites, and intranets. The goal for this volunteer position is to engage personnel that are well versed in social media interactions and able to build an interactive website that has the test of an international audience and have all the elements that can pull donors to it.

Volunteers should have sharp programming and technical skills, knowledge of the environment in which the opportunity is taking place and the expected audience to attend to the organizational needs involved. This is an exciting opportunity to show how a website project can transform a non-profit success.

Women and children are prime targets here and what defines their particular attention is education and empowerment programs. More of this will be discussed with the volunteer.

Mission Statement

Improve the living standards of the rural poor through the development and adoption of sustainable and appropriate technologies practices and diversification in rural agriculture. We encourage empowerment through knowledge by developing literacy and educational programs within our organisational structure and in partnership with other non governmental and governmental organisations.

Description

Integrated Rural Community Center for Agriculture is community based Non governmental organisation in Cameroon working with the rural and mainly agricultural poor to try to improve the quality of life of these people. Knowing fully well that these rural communities are typically agricultural communities we try to assist them to improve farm yield much needed to feed families and raise incomes for other household chores.

Besides this, we also engage them in non agricultural activities deemed neccessary to improve their living standards and make life worthy of living in rural communities.

Our organization, established in the first instance to act as an information hub to both maintain and enhance the existing agricultural knowledge pool, also intends to exploit collective bargaining power by establishing co-operative sourcing of supplies and produce. We also create value for small farmers through innovation in sustainable agriculture and the activation of value chains.

A grass roots initiative our core values and operations are all independent of external advisers or sponsors. Whilst we need and want these people to help us progress we are in an enviable position where our self creation and independence permits us to economically exploit sponsors and advisers and to integrate often highly specialized professionals easily into our structure.

As the umbrella of both young and old people in Cameroon, IRCCA is the perennial network of the rural poor the world over encouraging common thinking and understanding on.
