To provide a timely response to disaster incidents in the county and to ensure the mental health services needs of Red Cross clients and workers are addressed. The mission of Disaster Mental Health is to provide for and respond to the psychosocial needs


Alpha, Charlie and Delta teams rotate being on-call.⦆ Teams are on-call for one week out of every three.⦆ During its on-call week, the team is on-duty to respond to disasters that occur 5pm to 5am Monday through Friday nights, and anytime during the weekend.⦆ During the team's on-call week, members must sign up for a minimum of two on-call shifts.⦆ During an on-call shift, the volunteer must be accessible by phone and willing to respond immediately to local disasters if called.⦆ On-call shifts are for a 12 hour period.

Limited Responders for Mental Health are only called to the scene if there are mental health needs created by the disaster.⦆ Often, Limited Responders for Mental Health can work with clients via phone and do not need to go directly to the scene of the disaster.
