ORGANIZATION: Keep Prince William Beautiful

Program Objective:

Share your passion about taking care of our environment. Learn how county vs. state boundaries can affect environmental stewardship and the presence of a "responsible party" can impact environmental decisions. Discover how litter can affect a community both in safety and perceived value. Opportunity includes responsibilities within KPWB’s Adopt-a-Spot, Storm Drain Labeling, and Educational Outreach Programs. This is a great opportunity for someone that enjoys a variety of experiences in their work experience.

Responsibilities will include:

-Conduct presentations to community groups, businesses and youth groups/schools.
-Prepare appropriate presentations and lessons as needed.
-Keep information current on social media and other internet sites.
-Train and coordinate volunteers that survey for litter.
-Update and maintain maps and information databases.
-Organize volunteer assignments.
-Create printable and electronic materials for program promotion and community education.
-Coordinate and present at booth events and expos.
-Promote citizen involvement through KPWB’s media outlets.
-Complete post event reports.

All KPWB interns will receive membership into the Prince William County Chamber of Commerce while working with KPWB, allowing for additional training and networking opportunities. Mileage from services beyond driving to and from work is available.

Individuals that do not need credit but are interested in the experience are also welcome to apply. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by start of internship and have reliable transportation to and from work. Applicant must be able to work weekends for events, projects, or programs. Keep Prince William Beautiful is a 501(c)(3) environmental organization that serves Prince William County through partnering with residents, businesses, community organizations and the government to educate and inspire environmental stewards who, through locally informed action, actively work to reduce litter waste, increase recycling, and broaden environmental education throughout the County.

We offer multiple programs that offer a variety of volunteer opportunities involving litter removal and prevention, recycling practices, community beautification, and environmental education.
