The Green Lents Community Tool Library is a free resource for residents in outer SE Portland. It functions like a book library, except tools or other project materials are checked out instead. We have a seed library and tool resale rack as well. We promote access over ownership, and encourage a culture of repair and creative reuse to reduce waste and consumption. Our members are given the opportunity to save money by simply borrowing the tools they need to complete their home improvement projects. More info at: www.greenlents.org/community-tool-libary
Volunteers are a big part of what helps the Tool Library stay successful. We are looking for someone to assist in volunteer coordination! This person would work closely with the Green Lents program manager and tool library team. A paid stipend is available (~1,000/month).
Tasks include:
- volunteer recruitment and retainment
- assisting in building a volunteer culture and cultivating relationships
- tracking tool library schedule to make sure shifts are filled
- community outreach
- new volunteer training
- covering tool library shifts
- ensuring safety protocols are being followed
- tracking inventory and donations
Preferably looking for someone:
- excited about resource and tool sharing
- has basic skills in admin tasks (scheduling, organization, tracking volunteer base)
- available some Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings
- great with communication and outreach
- enjoys meeting new people
Time commitment:
Around 12/hrs a week
