Did you know that English proficient immigrants earn 13 to 24% more than their peers who are not?

Words add amazing dimensions and color to our world! Imagine your life without the ability to read. Make a difference in your community by volunteering as an ESL tutor with Arlington Reads, the literacy program of the Arlington Public Library!

As a English Language (ESL) Tutor, you will help to broaden a student’s horizons by teaching them the necessary skills to build their English language competency.

Arlington Reads has students waiting to be matched with you!

Just 90 minutes, one or two days a week is all it takes to change lives through the power of language!

Volunteers with Arlington Reads can choose their own schedules!

Our classes are scheduled based on our volunteers' availability. We host classes 5 days a week, Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. - affording even those with busy lives plenty of flexibility to work, study, and volunteer!

No experience is necessary!

No previous teaching experience is needed. Arlington Reads provides our volunteers with the training, support, and materials needed to get started!

College students and Alternative TESOL Certification students can use their volunteer hours with Arlington Reads to satsify service learning and practicum requirements.*

Spring Classes will run January - April. Morning and Evening class times with flexible one-on-one tutoring sessions.
