We’re seeking individuals who love meeting new people to serve as Museum Greeters. Greeters create an engaging atmosphere for Museum visitors, answer visitor questions and provide information related to current exhibits, promote events and Museum Membership, and provide customer service at all levels of the visitor experience.
Topics in the Museum include U.S. History (1930s through Cold War era), military aircraft, and nuclear science (radiation, medicine, energy production and more). Knowledge or interest in one or more of these topics is a plus.
Training: The Museum provides peer-to-peer mentor training, as well as written training materials that provide a foundation of knowledge. Individuals are also encourages to conduct their own self-study of the topics.
Time Commitment: Greeters are scheduled on a recurring weekly basis. Each Greeter shift is 4-hour hours in length (9 am to 1 pm, or 1 pm to 5 pm). Greeters may also choose to sign up for special tours, education programming, facility rentals, or events outside of their regularly scheduled shift.

Description
The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History was established in 1969 as an intriguing place to learn the story of the Atomic Age, from early research of nuclear development through today’s peaceful uses of nuclear technology. Visitors can explore how nuclear science continues to influence our world. The museum strives to present, through permanent and changing exhibits and displays, the diverse applications of nuclear science in the past, present, and future along with the stories of the field’s pioneers.
The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is a Smithsonian Affiliate and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. It is a non-profit, 501(c)3. The Museum hosts approximately 70,000 guests from around the world each year and presents programs to approximately 10,000 children. The Museum runs a science summer camp program within the state, with 300 day-campers learning about ecology, robotics, flight, engineering, medicine and general science.
