Southeastern Education Center (SEC) is a specialized behavioral re-assignment middle school that partners with Milwaukee Public Schools to provide students with targeted interventions and focused learning opportunities. Youth come to SEC having significant behavioral problems and personal learning challenges. School staff members provide a structured and safe learning environment that effectively addresses these complex issues, allowing students to improve their behavior and learning, and eventually transition back into the regular school curriculum.

Youth Mentors work collaboratively with school and program staff to improve academic success. They build on-going relationships with students and provide guidance, support, and assistance to build life skills and confidence. Youth Mentors meet with their students one hour a week during normal school hours, participating in activities that will strengthen the relationship and build the students’ self-esteem.

To learn more about becoming an SEC Mentor or to apply, contact Volunteer and Community Outreach Manager Jake Spence at jspence@pathfindersmke.org or (414) 988-6870.
