Thank you for your support of the The Street Vendor Project's Vendy Plaza!

We are partnering with the City Council (Melissa Mark-Viverito) and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC) to host Vendy Plaza at La Marqueta in East Harlem. The goal is to create a thriving outdoor food marketplace and business incubator at Vendy Plaza and is part of a long-term project to revitalize La Marqueta and create opportunities for small food businesses. Vendy Plaza is free and open to the public. There will also be live music, DJs and a beer and wine bar.

DATES: Every Sunday (rain or shine) beginning May 1 through October 16, 2016 except July 3rd

TIME: 12pm-6pm

LOCATION: Vendy Plaza is located at La Marqueta, along Park Avenue between 115th & 116th Street in East Harlem, 1 block away from the 6 Train. The space is outdoors and enclosed underneath the Metro North train line (provides cover for rain).

Mission Statement

The mission of the Street Vendor Project of the Urban Justice Center is to advance economic and social justice among the approximately 10,000 people who sell food and merchandise on the streets and sidewalks of New York City.

Description

We are a membership-based organization, founded and run by former and current vendors. We provide legal representation, advocacy, and grassroots organizing support to vendors across the city.

The Street Vendor Project also puts on the yearly Vendy Awards , which is both a fundraiser for SVP, a 501(c)(3), and a celebration of all street food vendors in New York City.
