Provides assistance to staff in transporting impatients and outpatients to various clinic locations and appointments throughout the medical center.
Primary duty will be to assist with transporting inpatients to/from therapy appointments in NLR. Volunteer will be working directly with inpatients and/or outpatients requiring escort to therapy appointments. They will be working directly in the therapy clinics and in between the wards in NLR.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Checking patients in for appointments.
Answering telephone to include answering questions/inquiries and transferring calls to appropriate areas.
Making photocopies.
Cleaning of therapy clinics (i.e., cleaning of treatment mats, equipment).
Assisting with inventory of equipment and assist with restocking closets when orders are received.
Utilize computer to locate patient appointment information.
Answer general questions and be as helpful as possible to those seeking hospital services.

Description
The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) consists of two Veterans Health Administration (VHA) campuses located at Little Rock and North Little Rock, Arkansas. CAVHS has eight Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located in Conway, Hot Springs, El Dorado, Mountain Home, Mena, Pine Bluff, Russellville and Searcy, Arkansas. CAVHS employees staff four of the eight CBOCs: Conway, Hot Springs, Searcy and Russellville. These clinics serve Veterans living in northern, western, and central Arkansas counties, as well as border counties in surrounding states. Unique to the facility is our Veterans Day Treatment Center for homeless Veterans, located in downtown Little Rock and the Home Health Care Service Center, which operates from Hot Springs, as well as from an off-site location in Little Rock. We also support the Vet Center located in North Little Rock, Arkansas. CAVHS is classified as a Level 1b facility on the VA complexity model. CAVHS provides comprehensive healthcare through primary, tertiary, and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, mental health, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, dentistry, ophthalmology, geriatrics and extended care, women’s health and education. CAVHS is active in research and emergency preparedness.
