Volunteers must attend 40 hours of in-person training and submit background checks. One year commitment required.
** We are now recruiting for our Spring Training beginning in late April 2018**
We are seeking individuals to volunteer in the position of Daytime Shelter Volunteer at our Domestic Violence Safehouse or our Family Homeless Shelter during the days (7am-11am, 11am-3pm, 3pm-7pm). Volunteer Shelter Coordinators answer the hotline/helpline, ensure the smooth operation of the shelter, and respond to the daily needs of shelter residents. This allows Staff to hold meetings and workshops with clients.
Doorways for Women and Families creates pathways for women, men and children out of homelessness, domestic violence and sexual assault leading to safe, stable and empowered lives by offering emergency shelter, housing, life changing support services and community advocacy in Arlington, Virginia.
