Volunteers are the HEART of Heartland Hospice!
Do you believe that no one should die alone? Are you caring, compassionate, dependable, and patient? This may be the opportunity for you. Our vigil volunteers sit with our patients during their last hours. Volunteers read, hold hands, and offer quiet support to patients and their families.
This is an on-call volunteer opportunity and the volunteer can always decline the request. Training and ongoing support are provided. Emphasis is on providing comfort during the dying process. Questions? Call or email us today!
Requirements: Must be 18 years or older; agree to a background/reference check; and attend an orientation to learn more about the philosophy of hospice and our company, the role of the volunteer and communicating with hospice patients and their families. Must be appropriately coping with any personal losses, impeccable communication skills, sound judgment regarding issues of death and dying, and ability to work independently with indirect supervision. Travel is required for this volunteer opportunity, so volunteers must have some form of reliable transportation.
