The incidence of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and other nutrition-related diseases is elevated in socio-economically disadvantaged populations including those who participate with Sunday Friends.
We believe that children are at a disadvantage in school and in life when their own health and their parents’ health is compromised. Sunday Friends teaches nutrition and health so families will make changes in their habits.

Sunday Friends empowers families to break the generational cycle of poverty by fostering positive development in children while educating and guiding parents to support their children's life success.
Description
Since 1997, Sunday Friends has provided a safe place where underserved families come together with volunteers in a community setting. Through everyday activities such as cooking, serving meals, writing letters to donors, or making cards for nursing home residents, families practice positive life skills that promote self-reliance and a healthy, productive lifestyle.
