About Spay Baton Rouge

Location:

10310 East Groner Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, US

Mission Statement

Spay Baton Rouge will decrease the euthanasia of companion animals by providing affordable spay and neuter services to low-income persons in the greater Baton Rouge area.

Description

Sportswriter, Frank DeFord once said, "You can tell all you need to about a society from how it treats animals." According to the number of euthanasias per year at the East Baton Rouge Parish Animal Control Center (ACC) our city's rate for euthanasia of cats and dogs is 45% higher than the national average. That statistic does not paint an accurate portrait of the abundant compassion in our city.
Spay Baton Rouge is a start-up organization dedicated to providing spay and neuter surgeries to low income pet owners in the Baton Rouge area. By implementing a successful area wide sterilization program, we will achieve our goal of reducing the Baton Rouge dog and cat (companion animal) euthanasia rate at ACC. Ultimately, Spay Baton Rouge will prevent the unnecessary euthanizing of animals, save our city tax dollars, and reduce the health risks that come with stray animals roaming our streets. This will then tell a more accurate story about our society here in East Baton Rouge Parish. This story of a compassionate Baton Rouge will shine positively for those looking to relocate to our city.
