BECOME AN IMPORTANT PART OF EMERGENCY SERVICE DELIVERY IN YOUR COMMUNITY. We are looking for friendly, compassionate people who want to make a meaningful contribution to the Upper West Side and the care of patients at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital.
Do you enjoy the satisfaction of helping others, and at the same time, giving back to your community? If so, consider becoming a volunteer in the Emergency Department. You will be working alongside staff and physicians who are committed to providing quality healthcare to our patients.
The Emergency Room Volunteer focuses their service in the following ways:
- Visit patients to provide reassurance and comfort, and assist with small requests such as blankets, ice, water, food (when approved)
- Escort patients and family members
- Provide support to families with small children
- Act as a resource for frequently asked questions
- Help to bridge communication

Description
With 495 beds, Mount Sinai Morningside serves as the principal health care provider for the West Harlem and Morningside Heights communities and operate one of Manhattan’s few Level 2 trauma services. A member of the Mount Sinai Health System, we have an outstanding reputation for services in many medical specialties, including internal medicine, geriatrics, trauma, cardiac care, physical rehabilitation, and psychiatric disorders. We continue to expand its commitment to community-based ambulatory care and access to primary and specialty care.

- Orientation or Training
- 3 hours a week. Shifts open daily from 7am - 10pm.
- Must be able to stand for long time periods. Bilingual volunteers are encouraged to apply. Must complete an interview, medical clearance, and training in order to start your service.
