Drop-in center volunteers help plan and facilitate activities and programming for LGBTQ+ youth across a 7 county area throughout north and central IL, including drop-in centers specific to the needs of trans and gender expansive youth. Volunteers may also assist in community education/networking and supporting the youth leadership and HIV prevention programs. Volunteers with appropriate skills and interests may choose to work with the parent group.
In person drop in centers operate weekly in DeKalb, Peoria, Naperville, Joliet/Lockport, Ottawa, Palatine, Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Sterling, and Aurora. All sites run weekly (except Aurora is only twice a month) on their designated day. We have two virtual drop-in centers. New volunteers are sought for all locations and the virtual groups.
