Join ongoing efforts to stop garlic mustard from spreading into nice woodlands! We will be hand pulling and removing this aggressive invasive weed. Early detection and rapid response, pulling any small infestations, will keep garlic mustard at bay in the high quality woodlands in the park. Meet at the East Graham Boat Launch parking lot on the north side of Predmore Road in the park’s North Unit. Map: 42.786267, -83.190904 Please arrive early as we will likely caravan to a different site.

Mission Statement
To preserve, protect and restore the natural and cultural resources present within Michigan State Parks for this and future generations.
Description
Volunteers will help steward natural areas (woodlands, wetlands, prairies, etc.) within Michigan state parks and recreation areas. These efforts will help protect entire ecosystems as well as individual species - especially those in greatest need of conservation ("Species of Special Concern" and those whose populations are "Threatened" or "Endangered").
Currently, Core Volunteer Stewards are volunteering at monthly volunteer workdays on weekends at 7 southeast Michigan parks and recreation areas. Volunteers do a variety of activities throughout the year including: removing invasive non-native plants, collecting seed from native plants, and planting native seedlings. Volunteers can also participate in a number of Individual Projects like Insect Monitoring, Photographic Monitoring and Invasive Plant Mapping - to name a few.
No previous experience is need to participate, though some training might be necessary for certain projects.
