English in Action (EiA) and Andrew Romay New Immigrant Center (ARNIC), programs of the English-Speaking Union of the United States, match non-native speakers with native English-speaking volunteers for one-to-one conversation practice. EiA and ARNIC are always looking for friendly new tutors.
As an EiA/ARNIC Volunteer you will make a difference in your community, meet new people, share your culture and experiences, and learn about other cultures.
Volunteers need no formal teaching background or training, just an interest in other languages and cultures and the willingness to help a newcomer. We provide training and materials. Time commitment: minimum 2 hours per week. Volunteer leadership positions available.
English in Action may mean the beginning of a lifelong interest in a particular area of the world, or even a deeper understanding of one's own culture.
