About YesLiberia, Inc.

Youth Empowerment Services of Liberia, (YESLiberia, Inc) began when young people from Liberia and the United States shared stories of friends and family who are struggling with the aftermath of the 14-year civil war in Liberia. This discussion led to many ideas about ways to help, and discovered the hearts and hopes for the future are centered on the youth of Liberia.

YesLiberia works on innovative programs/models to address problems affecting youths in Liberia, West Africa, through Community Engagement, Village Innovation, and Health & Lifestyle.

Our programs include fostering education through Learning Centers and Tuition Assistance Programs; building a Library Facility; providing basic health lessons to women and children through an Ultrasound Service Program; providing Senior Citizens' Birthday Celebrations; engaging students in the USA and Liberia via web platforms and many others.

Our efficient model and impactful accomplishments were two of many reasons experienced and credible Board Members have join the organization.

YesLiberia is a 501c3 non-profit (NPO) that is constantly remodeling itself with unconventional and cost-effective ideas to provide services beyond our limited resources. The organization's mission is "to empower young people in Liberia by providing meaningful service learning opportunities while motivating them to practice civic responsibility for the betterment of their communities, country, and world."

The staff believe in the founder’s vision "to transform Liberia by investing in its young people and unlocking their potential to create a verdant future for themselves and their communities", and YesLiberia does this by focusing on being accountable, benevolent, and collaboration with a servant’s attitude.

Description

Conviction created YesLiberia. Daily the needs of underprivileged are ignored. We ignore their struggles because it’s easier to deal with the more important things in our lives-- like climbing the corporate ladder and saving money so we don’t become indigent. And some of us ignore their challenges because they bring back unpleasant memories we seek to repress. But disregarding the plight of the underprivileged yields no resolution. Then certain things happen to remind us their struggles exist no matter how hard we try to pretend our needs surpass theirs.

Jallah was convicted by several of those things over a short period of time. The prostitution of children in Thailand reminded him of Liberia. The rape and war in Congo reminded him of Liberia. The genocide in Rwanda reminded him of Liberia. He remembered his underprivileged past--a past where he was seen as less than elite based on his tribal and economic status and where his education came as a gift from the United Methodist Church.

Reminded, he became convicted to act and YesLiberia was founded to educate and help underprivileged Liberians whose plight he intimately understood.

YesLiberia is a 501c3 charity organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service since July 2009. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowable by law. YesLiberia is also registered at four government agencies in Liberia.
