VeloCity Bicycle Cooperative
No experience necessary! We're looking to expand our mission to a year round Youth based educational & mentoring Program but we don't have the funds to hire a Youth Program Coordinator! Suggestions for Fundraisers helping organize mailing campaigns, local rides, raffle contests, silent auctions, and BBQs.
We're also looking for anyone with experience in grant writing.
Requirements: No experience is necessary. Any help you can provide is really helpful

Our mission is to educate, encourage, and empower a vibrant and inclusive cycling community through learning. We provide a non-profit, volunteer-run, educational do-it-yourself workshop offering training, rides, and events to empower all levels of cyclists in building, maintaining, and embracing the fun of bicycles.

Open Shop hours for do-it-yourself bike maintenance repair, supported by experienced volunteers
Same day bicycle maintenance services (scheduled; during weekdays only)

Get tips on where and how to cycle safely in Alexandria
$10 per hour for use of tools and shop supplies during Open Shop hours
$10 per hour for training classes
Approximately $5 for most used parts
We welcome your donations of bicycles, bicycle parts, and tools.

Mission: Our mission is to grow and empower an inclusive biking community through education and affordability. Vision: Affordability: Make safe reliable bicycles more affordable for everyone. Diversity: Foster diversity within the cycling community. Education: Expand the availability of quality cycling education within the community. Recreation: Promote cycling as a healthy and enjoyable activity. We provide a non-profit, volunteer-run, educational do-it-yourself workshop offering training, rides, and events to empower all levels of cyclists in building, maintaining, and embracing the fun of bicycles. As a local non-profit organization, we rely strictly on volunteers and funding from private individuals and organizations. Although we primarily work with recycled materials, we do spend money on consumables with include things like bicycles tubes, cables, and brake pads. We encourage monetary donations from all that use the shop.
No experience is required to volunteer with Velocity. We have experienced volunteers to teach you everything you'd like to know about bicycles and community organizing. Come on down, make new friends, mess with bikes!
