Habitat Needs Your Help Putting Up Volunteer Recruitment Posters!
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore needs your help putting up posters in and around Washtenaw County! The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is always looking for more volunteers, so to help spead the word we need your help with getting our posters into local businesses, schools, churches, community centers and many similar locations. With your help, we'll be able to recurit more volunteers to help assist the Habitat ReStore with it's daily operations.
The Habitat ReStore is a 16,000 square foot warehouse that sells new and gently used building materials, furniture, home decor, appliances, and all of the products that you need to update, maintain, and furnish your space. We make home improvement affordable - and 100% of profits goes right back into our Habitat for Humanity homeownership program.
This opportunity is available for anyone willing to help, all ages welcome! This could be a great summer opportunity for kids and their parents, teenagers, or anyone that wants to help spread the word about Habitat! Tell your friends and make this a weekly group event!
You'll first meet with a Habitat staff member to talk about Habitat for Humanity, the Habitat ReStore, and all of the great things that we do in our community. We'll then target an area or two for you to visit. You'll then head out and post flyers. While you're out, you'll keep track of the places that allowed us to post flyers, so we can make sure to visit them again in the near future!

Mission Statement
We are the Habitat for Humanity ReStore of Huron Valley. What we do is we take in furniture, appliances, household items, kitchen cabinets, hardware, tools, and much more from our generous donors around Washtenaw County. We then resell these items back to the public to help raise funds for our home ownership opportunities, furnace test and tune program, critical home repairs, veteran home repairs, and several other programs that help support our community. Last year alone, we raised enough funds to move 6 families into their new homes. So while you won't be building a home at the ReStore, you'll be supporting our small friendly staff with making the ReStore a clean, safe environment for individuals to shop and volunteer at. In doing so, we also help keep materials out of landfills and also help families purchase items from us at a fraction of the cost, compared to buying them from another store.

In a county where owning a home can be expensive, Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley makes affordable homeownership achievable for low-income, hard working families. Our program is centered on the idea of a hand-up, not a hand-out , that is to say, giving families the opportunity to work hard to purchase a home with a no profit mortgage. This makes owning a decent, safe, affordable home attainable to families that otherwise could not purchase their own home.
