PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Foster representatives are responsible for regular check ins with active foster parents and assisting them with any issues or concerns they are having with their foster pet. This role is responsible for cross reporting any information for the records team to use in pet profiles, and the medical team with any medical issues that should be addressed.
Salary / Pay Rate: Volunteer
Foster representatives will be assigned to manage up to 25 beginner foster families, and up to 40 experienced foster families.
Check in with foster parents at scheduled times via email. If no response within 48 hours, follow up with a phone call.
Within 48 hours of the pull of a new pet.
At one week after the pull of the new pet.
At two weeks after the pull of a new pet.
At one month after the pull of a new pet.
Every two weeks thereafter.
Assist in troubleshooting any issues with the foster pet, including training advice, and medical issues.
Maintain notes of correspondence with foster parents on that pet.
Refer issues beyond the scope of this function to other volunteers, team leaders, or foster director for further processing.
Develop relationships with foster parents, and professionally manage potential complaints.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Will have regular and continuous contact virtually or over the phone with team leaders, foster parents, and other volunteers. Contacts with others will require tactful exchanges and a positive, professional demeanor. Will require consistent availability in case of emergencies.
CONTROLS OVER WORK: This position reports to the Foster Representative Team Lead, the Foster Director, and the Executive Director.
Education and Experience: Must be a high school graduate with some related animal/rescue group experience.
Ability to work virtually (phone, email). A flexible work schedule to answer foster questions during the work day is preferred.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be organized and skilled at record-keeping.
