Duties: The Community Education & Outreach Intern with Planned Parenthood’s Bemidji Education Programs will provide assistance to the Native STAND program, with typical duties to include preparing for and participating in weekly meetings, pre-session planning, post-session clean-up, photography/videography at sessions and events, and transportation of program participants (mileage reimbursed). The intern will also assist with administrative tasks including weekly minutes and preparations for educational activities, and will have the opportunity to be involved in outreach initiatives such as tabling at community events and shadowing presentations within the community. Expect to gain skills in community education, sexuality education, and outreach. Qualifications include a basic knowledge of sexual and reproductive health issues and/or other health concerns, flexible schedule and availability to travel within the Bemidji area, ability to commit to the summer semester, and ability to provide own reliable transportation. Experience working within local native communities and/or knowledge of health concerns faced by local native communities preferred. Offer of position contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Approximately 8-10 hours/week commitment.
General Description: Planned Parenthood seeks an intern in the community education department of its Bemidji office. This intern will provide assistance to the Native STAND program managers. Obtain a professional level of knowledge about current topics in sexuality and other teen health issues
Assist in preparing for and participating in weekly meetings
Assist in administrative tasks that support the Native STAND program
Assist in community education and outreach initiatives
Assist with photography and videography during sessions and events
