The Norfolk County Sheriff's Department has coordinated several programs to ensure educational, vocational, and mentoring opportunities for pre-release inmates. They are currently in need of volunteers for the following opportunities: Vocational Training: If you have a particular trade (ex. culinary arts, OSHA, HVAC, landscaping, accounting) and are willing to teach a course to pre-release inmates to prepare them for life after release the Sheriff's department would be grateful to you lending your time and talent. Inmate Mentoring: Pre-release inmates whom the Sheriff's department have deemed would benefit from a mentor are paired with a volunteer for weekly one-to-one meetings. The purpose of the meetings are to be a positive role model in a pre-release inmates life and to prepare them for life outside of the prison system. The program has seen great success and transformations through the service on mentor volunteers.
