Do you want to help people while gaining valuable experience? Are you interested in learning more about the court system? Consider a position with the Montana Supreme Court's Self-Help Law Centers! The Justice for Montanans AmeriCorps member will assist people who do not have an attorney to access legal information, forms, and other court resources. The member will also attend relevant court hearings and coordinate with attorneys to provide services to low-income Montanans. Additionally, the member will travel to remote sites to provide services to rural Montanans. Members will receive in-depth training on various legal topics and skills for working with diverse clients. Positions will be based out of Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena, Missoula, and Kalispell. To apply visit http://justiceformontanans.org/

The Justice for Montanans AmeriCorps program helps empower low to moderate income Montanans advocate for their legal rights and increase access to justice.

Description

Our program is a great opportunity for individuals to gain experience working in the legal realm and to gain connections with other professionals across the state. AmeriCorps members in our program serve with 4 different organizations: Montana Legal Services Association, Supreme Court Self Help Law Centers, Office of Consumer Protection and Victim Services, and the Montana State Bar. Members perform a variety of duties including working with clients and doing intake, helping attorneys with case management, developing outreach materials and presentations, addressing consumer issues, helping survivors of domestic violence access services, and much more.
