Mounds Critter Cuddler Volunteers


Volunteers assist with the overall care of our smaller animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, etc.) by providing a clean and enriching environment during their stay at Dane County Humane Society’s Mounds Satellite Adoption Centers: East & Fitchburg.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide socialization for critters (includes rabbits, rats, gerbils, hamsters and more)
  • Help keep adoption center clean and orderly
  • Communicate with staff and fellow volunteers regarding animals’ medical & behavioral health
  • Direct visitors to adoption counselors for adoption inquiries
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Youth and parent teams eligible to volunteer at either Fitchburg or East
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work independently required
  • Good animal handling skills, with a good understanding of responsible pet care
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Friendly and positive attitude
  • Ability to squat, lift, and bend
  • Commit to a weekly 2-hours shift for a minimum commitment of six months
  • Minimum age to volunteer is 8 with a parent, or 18 if solo.
