If you love being outdoors and giving your time to help make YOUR environment better consider volunteering for Lakeside’s River Park Conservancy this summer.

Spend some time in the great outdoors helping to maintain the sensitive habitat of the San Diego River learn about California native plants and meet new friends!

Join Watering Team that meets every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7 am to 11 am. (4 hours). You do not have to come every day, just on the days you would like to participate.

You must be able to do physical labor over natural terrain and various weather conditions.

We provide all the supplies and tools, but ask that you wear a hat, sturdy shoes and sunscreen and bring plenty of water! If you have work/garden gloves bring them! NO FLIP-FLOPS.

Community service hours verified for those that need them.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  1. Follow direction and safety guidelines.
  2. Arrive on time because the team goes into the field as a group.
  3. Wear out-door work shoes and clothes. Hats and sunblock are recommended.
  4. Bring a minimum of 32oz of water to participate.

Volunteer Requirements:

  1. Must sign a wavier of liability, if under 18 years old a parent or guardian must co-sign.
  2. Ability to lift 40lbs, use basic tools provided and walk over natural terrain.

The mission of the Lakeside's River Park Conservancy is to preserve and restore the biological integrity and beauty of the San Diego River while integrating recreational, educational and cultural opportunities for youth, seniors, families and citizens of East San Diego County.

Description

Lakeside's River Park Conservancy was founded in 2001 with the mission to preserve and restore the biological integrity and beauty of the San Diego River while integrating recreational, education, and cultural opportunities for youth, seniors, and families East San Diego County.

The segment of the San Diego River in Lakeside had long been the focus of extensive sand mining operations and heavy industry. Such industrial operations are coming to an end and a new phase in the river's life is at hand; one in which nature and humanity work in harmony and regional quality of life is enhanced.
