Computer Tutors are needed at the Main Library's computer lab. Make a difference by helping patrons with basic computer skills such as setting up an email address, using word processing, completing on-line job applications, etc. Various shifts are available (see below); all require a 2-hour weekly commitment for at least 6 months.

We're looking for volunteers who are punctual and reliable. Applicants should have good communication skills and be able to work one-on-one with library patrons who need computer help.

Mission Statement

Your Oakland Public Library empowers all people to explore, connect, and grow.

Description

The Oakland Public Library is a part of the City of Oakland, and has been in existence since 1878. Our locations currently include 16 branches, a Main Library, 6 Teen Zones, the Second Start Adult Literacy Program, a Tool Lending Library and the African-American Museum and Library. We also operate the Books for Wider Horizons program that recruits, trains, and places volunteer story readers in preschool or childcare centers throughout the City of Oakland, and offer many other special services for residents of Oakland and California.

We are supported by a lively Friends of the Library group and by the Library Advisory Commission, as well as by local Friends' groups around the city.
