The Louisiana Delta Service Corps is an AmeriCorps program serving communities in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Members will serve full-time for 11 months starting September 1, 2016 in non-profits, grassroots organizations and public schools. Projects are focused on creating healthy and sustainable communities. Members will provide capacity building activities to their host sites in order to make their programs more efficient and effective. Examples of positions available are Volunteer Coordinator, Social Media and Technology Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator. Organizations work in physical or mental health, homelessness, HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness as well as coastal erosion.
Members receive a living allowance of $13,000 and an education award of $5,775. Other benefits include health insurance, child care reimbursement, student loan forbearance and tons of training and networking opportunities.
