ORGANIZATION: Super Stars Literacy

SSL Logo

Super Stars Literacy is looking for committed and motivated volunteers to join us for the new year! We help under-resourced students in grades K-2 develop their literacy and social emotional skills so that they can gain access to lifelong learning and achievement; and we need your help! We ask volunteers to give just one hour once a week to help reinforce learning and build academic confidence with our Super Stars students who need it the most.

We need your help at Vincent Academy! Please join our team of volunteers in 2016!

We are determined to provide excellent intervention services to our students that positively impact their future, and we need your help to do it!

If interested or for more information please contact Maia - volunteer@superstarsliteracy.org

About Super Stars Literacy

Location:

333 Hegenberger Road, Suite 503, Oakland, CA 94621, US

Mission Statement

When a child learns to read, they are empowered to transform their future.

Description

Because 3rd grade reading ability is such a strong predictor of high school graduation rates, Super Stars Literacy partners with schools in low-income communities to provide at-risk K-2nd grade students with comprehensive literacy intervention programming, helping them build the literacy and social skills that are the foundation for future learning. The SSL program consists of 1) daily after-school literacy and social-emotional skill developmet, 2) in-school reading support coordinated with the students' school-day teachers, and 3) family engagement activities designed to help parents support their child's reading development and connect families to the school.

We schedule one-time, team-building group volunteering activities as well! Please reach out to volunteer@superstarsliteracy.org for more information!
