Brookdale Hospice

  • 100 people are interested

Delight a senior by talking about old times and new things! You will receive much more than you give.

Volunteers provide companionship for Brookdale Senior Living residents who are on hospice care at one of our 13 communities throughout Austin and the surrounding area. Volunteers contribute at least 4 hours per month visiting their assigned residents at least once per week. They can reminisce, read, play music, or just be there for the resident and their caregiver. At no cost to the volunteer, background checks are required as well as TB tests. Volunteers must also interview and receive training. Volunteers will learn about hospice care and enrich the lives of seniors. Volunteers will also meet team members such as nurses, chaplains, and social workers. Volunteers who want to augment their direct-patient care experience can also assist with cataloging bereavement services support material.
