Position Title:Resource Navigator (Volunteer)

Volunteer reports to:Volunteer Coordinator or Area Director

Location: LSS Thousand Oaks Office

Purpose: The Resource Navigator volunteer is the first-person clients interact with over the phone. This volunteer will assist with screening our at-risk clients for eligibility for our programs and directing them to other relevant resources. The Resource Navigator is the first-person clients interact with when they come in. This volunteer role is a great opportunity to learn more about social services in Ventura County and assist individuals through the process of recovering from homelessness or financial insecurity.

Position Description:

The Resource NavigatorVolunteer is scheduled for one shift on a weekly basis, during the hours that our office is open to clients (8:30 AM - 12:30 PM or 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays).TheResource Navigator Volunteer may choose to do more shifts and should arrange that with the Volunteer Coordinator. Duties include: Answering phones, checking and taking messages, checking in and scheduling clients, sorting and distributing mail, and giving referrals. As our agency works with homeless, at-risk and low-income individuals and families of all backgrounds, an open and friendly demeaner is preferred.

Time Commitment:

3.5 hour shift

Shifts available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 AM-12:30 PM or 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM

Support:Extensive training for this position will be provided.
