About

We need volunteer coaches for Girls on the Run programs in Stark County and Wayne County, Ohio. As a Girls on the Run coach, you'll help girls:

  • Accept themselves and others
  • Stand up to bullies
  • Develop a positive self-image
  • Make healthier choices
  • Confidently chase their dreams
  • Change the world

Girls on the Run coaches do not have to be runners or experienced runners themselves; the basic requirements are enthusiasm and commitment to the healthy development of young girls and themselves.

Over the course of 10-weeks, you'll meet twice a week for 90 minutes with girls in 3rd through 5th grade (Girls on the Run, offered in the spring and fall) or girls in 6th through 8th grade (Heart & Sole, offered in the fall). Our scripted curriculum will guide you through each lesson, and everything you need--supplies, snacks, & handouts--is provided for you in your coaching tote.

Training will take place in August & early September.

We currently need coaches for the following programs:

Amherst Elementary (3rd through 5th grade)
Mondays & Wednesdays
5:30 to 7:00 pm

Jackson Memorial Middle School (3rd through 6th grade)

We also need event staff for the GOTR 5k Run/Walks on November 12, 2016 and May 20, 2017.

We could use administrative help, including take-home typing assignments, proofreading, sorting, and more.

We also need help with marketing, including posting to the Facebook page, delivering flyers & brochures throughout Stark County.

If you have a talent that you would like to share, we'd love to find a way to utiliize it as we strive to empower as many Stark County girls as possible!
