About:
The Urban Community Outreach Drop-In-Center is a community center for homeless people and the working poor in downtown Long Beach. It provides hot, nutritious lunch meals and a safe, friendly haven from the weather and the harsh conditions of the streets on Sunday afternoons. Other services for the guests include a 16-station computer lab, monthly visits by healthcare professionals, clothing and hygiene kit giveaways, and help for temporary shelter, childcare and permanent housing. This volunteer opportunity occurs every Sunday.
Sunday Volunteer Schedule
We request a minimum of 2 hours and there is always something for everyone to do!

- You will be able to select dates and times of service and a confirmation e-mail will be sent to you.
- A completed Liability Form is required for service and easily downloaded on our website.

- Food Preparation - 9:00 AM
- Set-Up - 11:00 AM
- Volunteer Orientation - 1:00 PM
- Serving - 1:30 PM
- Closing and Clean-up - 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Parking:
Street parking is FREE around the church on Sunday.
Directions:
The entrance is through the steel mesh doors on Cedar Avenue. Go straight up the stairs into the courtyard, and then walk into the dining area on your left. A coordinator or kitchen staff member will help you get started.
Dress Code:
CLOSED toed shoes ONLY. No sleeveless shirts, no bare midriffs, and please restrain any long hair.
Age Guidelines
All ages welcome, but persons under 16 years of age cannot participate in kitchen preparations.

Donations
Commonly donated items include clothing, personal hygiene products and blankets. Monetary donations are also welcomed and can be made directly on our website at www.ucodic.org.
