The New Heights Educational Group is in need of a volunteer speech therapist to work with low income youth and adults in the Defiance, Ohio area and NW Ohio.

All guidelines apply to both volunteers and paid speech language therapist - pathologists.
Position Description
All Speech Language Therapist- Pathologists must hold a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (e.g. M.A., M.S., or M.Ed.) . Under the supervision of the Founder/Executive Director and/or office manager or other staff member, provide therapy to assigned students. All therapy must be conducted online or in person under supervision of New Heights Educational Group staff or at the NHEG office or other location designated and agreed upon by all parties. Assist student(s) in improving academic achievement by meeting with them at least 2 hours per student assigned a week. Other assistance might include reviewing class material, discussing the text, formulating ideas for papers, or working on solutions to problems.
Qualifications
- Must hold a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (e.g. M.A., M.S., or M.Ed.)
- An A or B grade in the course(s) to be tutored.
- Responsible, dependable, honest, and mature.
- Friendly, patient, and sensitive to a diversity of students.
- Need to be able to keep students’ and their families’ information confidential.
- Most students are seen one to two times per week, whether or not he/she is receiving school-based therapy, depending on the severity of the disorder, or what type of intervention program is recommended. More intensive schedules can be implemented as needed.
- Sessions will be scheduled for 45 minutes of direct contact (with 15 additional minutes spent preparing and documenting a session).
- Progress reports/Assessments are generated on an ongoing basis. Progress can also be discussed verbally via face-to-face meetings or teleconferencing at student/families/staff request.
Requirements:
Background check, resume and three references.
Prefer experienced applicants or speech therapist under supervision.
Or a professional that can supervise and train our staff.
