Help preserve and share your local history! The Hayward Area Historical Society is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of opportunities: School Tour Guide, Museum Docent/Gallery Guide, Front Desk, Archives Assistant (data & photo entry), Researcher. Museum is Open 10am-4pm Wed-Sun (Closed Mon/Tues). Most Volunteer Opportunities fall within those hours. Contact us for more info.

The Hayward Area Historical Society joins with people of all ages in the celebration of the diverse heritage of our community. Through educational programs, interpretive exhibitions and the preservation of historic sites and artifacts, the Historical Society promotes an understanding about our shared history and the challenges of our future.
Description
The Hayward Area Historical Society operates a museum in downtown Hayward with permanent and temporary exhibition. The facility also contains a research library and archives. In addition, the Historical Society operates the McConaghy House, a 12 room Victorian mansion where it conducts house tours and educational programs. We are in the process of restoring a second historic house that will be open to the public within the next year or two.
