Trail Ambassadors help visitors navigate the park’s world class network of trails and bikeways, suggest hikes, share park information, and provide general assistance guiding visitors to adventures in the Presidio while getting great exercise and spending time in their national park. Training will take place on Wednesday evenings in August and we ask for a 1-year commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Help guide lost visitors to their desired location
  • Provide suggestions for those interested in other hiking or cycling opportunities or other general interest things to do in the park
  • Log and report interactions and activities on the trail using a clicker-counter and notebook

Docents will be provided with a series of initial training sessions with opportunities for further learning throughout their volunteer position. Training will be provided by the Presidio Trust and various partners. The training program covers a range of subjects including Presidio history, general Presidio information, detailed information on the trail and bikeway network, touring techniques, guided walks, videos, background reading, field trips, shuttle tours, and other activities.
