Mission Statement

These are the guiding principles of the San José-Evergreen Community College District. Student Success is the heart of our mission and we’ve hired the best and brightest faculty and staff to ensure that our students are well prepared when they transfer to a university, enter the workforce, or embark on a path of lifelong learning.

Description

For more than 92 years, San José City College has been providing education and workforce opportunities to our district residents in San José; and for more than 39 years, Evergreen Valley College has educated our citizenry in south San José and Milpitas.

Demographic changes, economic conditions, educational reforms, and the need for preparing students for postsecondary education prompted Measure G Bond funded initiative to build the Joint Use 21st Century Post-Secondary Education Center in Milpitas. This is a joint project between SJECCD and Milpitas Unified School District
(MUSD) to be completed by Fall of 2016 with the following goals:

1. Promote a seamless system of higher education services
2. Expand access to higher education in underserved areas of the District
3. Improve regional economic development opportunities by providing access to career and technical education

Adult Education: The Board of Trustees and Chancellor Cepeda have undertaken a new strategic initiative to address the needs of adult learners by establishing a collaborative with local adult education schools and non-profit organizations. Through the Summer and Fall of 2013, the South Bay Consortium for Adult Education (SBCAE) was formed. The purpose of the Consortium is to develop plans for adult education for South Bay region.

Educating more than 20,000 students each year, our colleges are hubs of teaching, learning and innovation in one of the most exciting cities in the world.
