Spend Summer Break Outside and Enjoy the delight of watching children encounter the wonders of nature, and even learn more about nature yourself! Assist Effie Yeaw Nature Center Naturalists as they teach children about nature through crafts, games, experiments, and hikes. Must enjoy working with children 5 to 15 years old, must love nature, and must be dependable. Volunteers sign up for a week at a time, 8:15 or 8:30AM to 12:30 PM on most days, occasional evening camps as well.
Go to our website, www.sacnaturecenter.net and check out our camp descriptions!
Volunteers may sign up for a week at a time, up to 4 weeks. We have from 16 to 24 kids in the camps, and strive to have 2 leaders and 3 volunteers for each camp. Some of the camps will have one evening session, or one off-site session. Otherwise, they are held at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, in the mornings. (If you cannot come to the evening sessions, just let us know that you will only be there for the day sessions.)
Camps are themed on wildlife, geology, and other local nature themes. You will see many animals up close and have wonderful experiences as you work with children introducing them to the joys of nature.
If you enjoy working with children and like being outside in nature, this will be the best volunteer opportunity of your summer!
