Take Patients to Their Cancer Treatments in Winston-Salem

Having cancer is hard...finding help shouldn't be. Volunteer with the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program to shield patients in active treatment from having to deal with the burden of finding a ride to treatment. Rides are needed for patients in Forsyth County and surrounding areas to be transported to local treatment centers.

Road to Recovery is a program where drivers volunteer their time and the use of their vehicles to transport patients to and from their treatments who have no other way of getting there. The American Cancer Society recruits new drivers, conducts training, guarantees liability insurance coverage, and provides background checks on all volunteers to ensure the safety of patients using the program. One of the recipients, John, said this about the program, "I don’t have family in the area, so without the American Cancer Society, I would not have been able to get to most of my appointments. Road to Recovery drivers helped me beat cancer by making sure I got to the treatments that saved my life."
