Volunteer opportunities available throughout the Riverside area and Inland Empire to provide care giver relief for someone on Hospice. If you are compassionate, a good listener and willing to volunteer your time then we'd love to hear from you. You would be providing relief to a family by sitting with their loved one 1-3 hours a week.

Mission Statement
The mission of Cornerstone Hospice is to provide expert care, comfort and support for those facing life-limiting illness though direct support of patients and their families, public education and public advocacy. A partner with the family, as well as the patient, our Hospice team of expert professionals and trained volunteers help people face the challenges, make the decisions and ease the transition of life's final phase. Our Hospice services are available to anyone facing a life-limiting illness, regardless of age, race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, ethnic or national orientation, diagnosis, ability to pay, or availability of a caregiver.

What is Hospice?
A special form of care for people, their families and their caregivers that:
treats the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people during the last months of life.
takes place in the patient's home, skilled nursing facility or in a home like setting.
focuses on making patients free of pain and comfortable so they can make the most of the time that remains to them
considers helping family members as essential part of it's mission.
believes the quality of life to be as important as the length of life.
Cornerstone Hospice care is provided by a compassionate team of highly qualified professionals. Each professional caregiver is highly trained and quipped to provide the highest level of care to meet the needs of the patient and family members.
Cornerstone Hospice is ready to help 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week
Nurses
Cornerstone Hospice nurses are skilled in assessing and managing pain; they are trained caregivers who provide hands-on care. Nurses provide a 24-hour, "on-call" service seven days a week .
Social Workers
Our social workers are friendly skilled listeners that help provide emotional support and help with financial issues and planning.
Medical Director
Our medical director is board certified in Hospice and Palliative medicine. The medical director oversees all patient care; continuously monitoring medication, pain management, and patient's plan of care to assure the highest quality of care.
Home Health Aides
A home health aide provides assistance with bathing and personal care.
Chaplains
The Cornerstone Hospice chaplains work with the family's clergy, if available, and offers spiritual support designed to meet the needs of the patient and family.
Volunteers
Highly trained volunteers are an important element of the hospice team, and are available to spend time with patients and families when needed.
Bereavement Specialists
Bereavement specialists provide grief and loss counseling, memorial services and other support for family and loved ones.
