Hospice is a special form of holistic care for patients and families facing a life-limiting illness. With hospice, curative treatment is replaced by comfort measures aimed at easing symptoms and improving the patients quality of life, while supporting the family's efforts to care for their loved ones.

Hospice volunteers are a very important part of the hospice experience. Volunteers can offer an increased quality of life to patients and families through their emotional support and companionship. They can provide a wide range of services to patient's and families, from respite care for family members to writing letters or offering a listening ear. As a hospice volunteer you will be given choices as to how much and what types of things you want to do.

If you're a good listener, have a spirit of compassion toward those who are at end-of-life and have a little extra time, then hospice volunteering is right for you. All volunteers receive training to ensure they feel comfortable with their tasks.
