Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Vigil volunteers are special volunteers that help provide a loving presence at the bedside of hospice patients as they are quickly approaching end-of-life. Vigil volunteers are requested when no family or loved ones are available or when family needs a break from the bedside. Special training is offered for this type of volunteering. Will also do in person training with a current vigil volunteer. Please contact our office today at 715-344-4541 and ask for our Volunteer Coordinator, Mary, to find out how you can join our team! You can also email Mary at Mary.Dulske@Heartlandhospice.com.

About Heartland Hospice Serving Central Wisconsin

3233A Business Park Dr., Suite 203, Stevens Point, WI 54482, US

Mission Statement

We believe that our mission is to enrich lives. That begins with every life we encounter: our employees, our patients and those who love and care for them, the communities in which we operate, our stakeholders and those who are yet to become our customers.

Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide comfort care as well as spiritual and emotional support for terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice focuses on enhancing the quality of life, rather than the length of life. It neither hastens nor postpones death; rather it affirms life and acknowledges dying as a normal process. Hospice care stresses human values that go beyond the physical needs of the patient. It ensures that patients spend the end of their life in dignity and comfort.

At Heartland, we consider our involvement with each patient a sacred opportunity and a privilege to be in their lives. We depend on our hospice volunteers to help us provide the love, respect and care our patients and their families need.

Volunteers offer support, companionship and practical, compassionate help. Some volunteers interact directly with patients and families, while others prefer to work behind the scenes in the office setting. As a volunteer, you would help us decide which tasks your are comfortable performing.
