Are you a "horse person"? Do you have horse handling skills? If so, we want you! We are looking for horse leaders to help with our therapeutic riding lessons. Even if you don't have the horse skills we need, you can still help.
All volunteers attend a class that covers working with people with disabilities, an orientation to our farm and safety around horses. All horse leaders side-walk in lessons first. We want you to fully understand the therapeutic riding team dynamic. If you have the horse handling skills we need, you will be invited to the Horse Leader Workshop.
The msission of the Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program is to provide equine-assisted activities to children and adults with disabilities, youth-at-risk, military service personnel and their families in an inclusive community setting.
