Family Room volunteers provide compassionate support for families with hospitalized children. Volunteers supervise the use of the hospitality room by greeting visitors and offer support to the families.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and are asked to complete an interview with RMHC Volunteer Manager and complete orientation at University of Vermont Medical Center and shadow an existing volunteer for a minimum of three hours.
Shifts are three hours long and between the hours of 9am and 9pm.

Ronald McDonald House Charities, a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation, creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. Its programs are grassroots-driven to enable the Charity to offer help where children need it most - right in their own communities. RMHC makes an immediate, positive impact on children's lives through its global network of local Chapters in 52 countries and its three core programs: the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. These programs provide a bridge to accessible health care and allow families more time together, which help in the healing process. RMHC and its global network of local Chapters also have awarded more than $460 million in grants and program services to children's programs around the world.
RMHC of Burlington, VT operates The Ronald McDonald House in the heart of downtown Burlington just a few blocks away from the University of Vermont Children's Hospital; The Ronald McDonald Family Room located right on the patient care floor of UVM Children's Hospital; and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile that partners with rural schools around the state to provide dental services to youth who are in need.
