Volunteers are the heart and soul of the PIP program. Our PIP volunteers understand the needs of their community and are passionate about helping parents through the critical early stages of parenthood. We cherish, respect, and appreciate all of our volunteers who give their time to help support new parents.

Volunteering as a group facilitator is one of the most crucial roles at PIP in directly helping new parents. PIP facilitators meet with a group of new parents once each week for 12 weeks. The topic of each 2-hour session is available in advance at a special training where you can become familiar with your role as the facilitator and the materials you will use. We realize this is a time commitment, but the reward you will get from seeing the bonds formed between the parents will make your time well spent.

There are no requirements for this position other than a passion for helping new parents navigate the first few months of their parenting journey in a happy and healthy way, and completing our Volunteer Facilitator Training. Please read more about this opportunity on our Get Involved page on our website. We look forward to hearing from you!

About Partners in Parenting

Mission Statement

Building a village for all new parents. Partners in Parenting (PIP) supports all of Austin’s new parents so they are confident, connected, and have the tools to reach their full potential.

Description

Partners in Parenting (PIP) improves the well-being of Austin’s new parents so they are confident, connected, and have the tools to blossom into their full potential. Our proven approach connects parents of babies with peers, trained facilitators, and experts so they can share the joy and weather the storms of new parenthood together. PIP believes that we build the foundation for healthy families by supporting parents in this early phase of parenthood. By helping Austin’s parents thrive, we help our entire community thrive.

PIPsqueaks Groups are for any new parent to attend with their babies. At each weekly meeting, the families in the Groups share their highs and lows, process the experience of becoming new parents, and learn tips and resources through weekly topic discussions and guest speakers. Our goal is to provide a welcoming and non-judgmental space where families become a support network for each other. Our neighborhood groups usually meet in the homes of groups members. Our community-based groups meet on site at one of our community partner locations. They meet during the day with one parent attending or in the evening with one or both parents. Each meeting includes time to focus on the babies' development and a break time for informal socializing and connecting with other parents.
