The Humane Society of Marion County's Shelter Buddy Program is designed to allow people who can't have a dog for any number of reasons (i.e., landlord, spouse, too many animals, allergies...etc.) spend quality dog time with one of our dogs. Select dogs in the program who have been at the shelter for at least 3 months or more can become your "shelter buddy." Take the dog out for the day, go jogging with the dog, take it to PetSmart or festivals, you can even take it home overnight. The dog gets the additional socialization and exposure to potential adopters and you get the pleasure of a dog's company. We can also consider providing you with a cat if you prefer. At the end of the day, just return it to the shelter! It's that easy!
