National Volunteer Week 2021 Is Here!
Celebrate with us as we highlight #ArtAsActivism!
Literacy Council of Carroll County
Imagine what your life would be like if you couldn't read--couldn't drive, find a decent job, help your children with their homework...
Support our rewarding work helping adults achieve their dreams. Whatever your talents, no matter your availability, we can use your help!
Many volunteer opportunities are available from tutoring or basic office work one morning a week to assistance with marketing, social media, outreach, event coordination, grant writing, and fundraising. Please see literacy.carr.org for more information. Some opportunities can be handled virtually as well.

The Literacy Council's mission is to provide adult learners with one-on-one, free, confidential tutoring to develop or improve skills in speaking, reading, writing, math, English as a second language, and basic computer knowledge.
The Literacy Council accepts referrals for students who need help with basic reading, writing, and mathematic skills. Students' needs and goals are individually assessed and they are matched with volunteer tutors. Tutors are trained in the Laubach Literacy system. They meet with students in community locations for 1-2 hours per week to provide one-on-one tutoring.
We'll work with your schedule.
