Coordinator of Junior Volunteer Program (for Summer 2018)

Volunteers are an essential part of our hospice team. Often, we have inquiries from middle school and high school students who want to volunteer for us, however we require they be 18 and attend our all-day training. So, we would like to start a Junior Volunteer program, which will only require an hour of training for the students. These student volunteers will need to be accompanied by a trained adult for all visits. Are you the adult that can help us?

As the adult coordinator, you will attend new volunteer orientation in our Flower Mound office. Next training date will be on Saturday, May 19 from 9:00 to 3:00. Based on your location, we would help you to recruit junior volunteers nearby. Then you would help set up visits in the nursing homes and other facilities where our patients live and coordinate transportation of the students as needed. Typical activities might include storytelling, reading, reading poetry, singing or playing music. Students would volunteer in small groups.

Training for this position will take place in our Flower Mound office. Recruiting students will take place in lat May. Program will run June, July and August with students having activities twice a month.

Ideally, the Coordinator of Junior Volunteers would reside in somewhere near our office -- such as Flower Mound, Lewisville, Corinth, Carrollton, or Denton.
